Sealegs Release Game-Changing Military Craft
Sealegs International has today announced the release of its large format Amphibious Enablement System (AES) for boats up to 12m metres or 6500kg. Called Sealegs System 100, the new system is designed specifically with the military market in mind, being three times larger than the existing System 60 AES offering.
The new amphibious enablement system (System 100) has been fitted to a RC36 11m craft from US boat Builder ReconCraft, a Sealegs OEM partner. Sealegs CEO David McKee Wright said “System 100 has been installed on a vessel targeted at the military market. Future customers and boat builders can be sure if the system can stand up to US military specifications it will certainly meet commercial expectations.”
Sealegs CEO David McKee Wright went on to say “System 100 Sealegs now offers an amphibious solution to boat builders worldwide in both military and commercial markets. Having the system installed on a boat will make it easier to demonstrate the benefits of amphibious technology to existing boat builders in order for them to adopt Sealegs Technology.
System 100 is based on existing Sealegs patented technology and is the result of a three year development project to upscale and commercialise the amphibious capability for much larger professional craft. Sealegs founder Maurice Bryham who led the project design and development said “the technology in System 100 introduces a number of new innovations that have been incorporated including Sealegs propriety Aqua-AirTM technology. The Aqua- AirTM technology allows marine inboard engines to run on land. This technology will extend the potential market size of amphibious enablement to larger vessels with diesel engines.”
The new Sealegs craft built in co-operation with ReconCraft is called IKA11 and will be on public display for the first time ever at the Auckland On-the-Water Boat Show from 24th-27th September.
