First Five Electric Sealegs Destined For Waiheke

Sealegs’ CEO David McKee Wright announced at the recent 2020 Sealegs Onetangi Beach Races the intention to have the first five production Electric Sealegs destined for homes on Waiheke Island.

With a unique community of passionate and successful business people based on Waiheke Island, many who are already Sealegs owners, McKee Wright extended an opportunity to those interested in becoming the first owners of Sealegs Electric craft to become key pioneers in the development of the production system.

He told a story of Sealegs pioneering the new market segment of amphibious boating, growing it from zero to over 1500 craft in 50 countries. However, despite its international promotion, Sealegs had not found such a numerous group of owners that are personally successful, early adopters, and as appreciative of their lifestyle as it’s customers on Waiheke.

Working together will be beneficial for both Sealegs owners on Waiheke, and the company itself, and McKee Wright signalled this as a priority going forward. A cluster of customers within 50km’s of its R&D facility and factory represents a unique opportunity for product feedback, before exporting new ideas and technology to the world.

The first Sealegs Electric is already destined for Waiheke Island in the coming months, with more scheduled later in 2020 with the first units in the Northern Hemisphere in Spring 2021.

Another recent initiative by Sealegs to support its’ growing customer base on Waiheke was the appointment of Dean Cunningham, a dedicated customer support resource for existing customers on the island, which are now in excess of 100.
