Fabulous Amphibious Waiheke
As someone wise once said
“Beauty awakens the soul to act.... a thing of beauty is a joy forever”
Colleagues and I had the pleasure of staying on the island last weekend and were amazed by the all-round beauty as summer was setting in.
The Pohutukawa’s were out in bloom, the sand soft and golden, capped off with the sound of waves gently lapping at the shore - It certainly was paradise.
During these restful moments I found myself drifting off into a daydream when the silence was broken by the familiar sound of a Sealegs as it went past. While It's a sound we’re all familiar with and one that is dear to my heart, my hope is the sound of a four-stroke petrol driven Sealegs will become a thing of the past as the Island again leads the way in pioneering the adoption of Sealegs electric and its silent power.
Sealegs has been shipping its electric model for some time and there are already a few on the island. We took the following video as we drove down the strand in Onetangi - listen to the 'silence of Sealegs' one that suits the serene paradise that is Waiheke Island.

Like us, we are sure Waiheke residents will love our innovative, environmentally conscious and of course quiet advancements in amphibious technology. The Sealegs team will be on the Island for the next 4 weeks and we'd love the opportunity to offer let you experience the power and silence of our new electric technology.

By now you may have seen our announcements on the 3.8m Electric Amphibious Tender - The 'Sealegs Amfibio'. The ability to arrive in style with the unparalleled convenience only an amphibous tender can provide - the Amfibio has it all. A combination of cutting edge design incorporating the latest in amphibious technology this craft brings a new level of luxury to shore transfers,
- vessel re-supply,
- visit beachfront cafes,
- access remote landings
- provide short range land transportation whilst in port.
This revolution in amphibious marine technology comes with a 3kw battery pack, electric in hub wheel motors and the Sealegs Amptrac operating software. Together they enable an effortless 45-minute run time from a mere 3-hour charge.
The Amfibio is for everyone who loves adventure, boating and being on the water but dislikes the hassle that traditionally comes with it.
After some delays due to a forced product change for some of the electric components, the good news is the Amfibio is on track for shipping in early 2025.

Onetangi Beach Races
Due to circumstances beyond our control, unfortunately, the Sealegs Onetangi Beach races in 2024 have been cancelled.
Despite our willingness to take on the organising of the event, an unexpected challenge has arisen with the discovery of the invasive Caleurpa weed in Onetangi Bay. The uncertainties surrounding the necessary measures required to protect the beach from this weed posed a significant hurdle, ultimately leading to the regrettable decision to cancel the event once again.
We understand the disappointment this news may bring, and we share in that sentiment. However, we want to assure you that we remain committed to working closely with Rotary, the Waiheke local board, and community groups to overcome these challenges and bring the Sealegs Onetangi Beach Races back in the future.
In the meantime, we are determined to keep the spirit alive and maintain our connection with the community. To this end, we plan to host a series of social events where friends of Sealegs can come together, enjoy some "Waiheke Fun," and celebrate the vibrant community we have built over the years.
We sincerely appreciate your understanding and continued support. We look forward to brighter days ahead and the opportunity to gather together for exciting events on the beautiful shores of Waiheke.

Super Steering
With the increase in size and luxury the Sealegs range offers – the issue of maneuverability on land and particularly in tight spaces has been raised by some customers. Having listened, Sealegs has developed and now released a ‘Super Steering’ option that provides for an enhanced turning radius enabling even better on-land maneuverability.
The new technology provides a 60% increase in steering angle allowing customers to maneuver their Sealegs craft in even tighter, more demanding locations with greater ease and improved accuracy.
Super Steering is available as a retro fit to Sealegs craft configured with Enhanced Power Steering (EPS) fitted as standard. Please contact your Sealegs representative to confirm if your craft is a candidate for super steering.

Don't Be Flat!
During the year, my travels took me to the beautiful Island of Mauritius where I met with Sealegs customers. Being an island (like Waiheke) servicing is difficult and in talking to a customer realised they had experienced issues around “being flat” - Flat batteries and the occasional flat tube or tyre.
FLAT TYRES
You may have experienced a flat tyre on your Sealegs. There are countless reasons for this but to ensure you can always get home we recommend a cordless battery powered high pressure inflator. It is designed to be portable and easy to use, complete with a carry case and multiple attachments. SHOP HERE
FLAT BATTERY
Nothing worse than going to use your Sealegs and discover you have a flat battery. For several years every Sealegs have been constructed with an inbuilt socket for a Victron charger. It’s an intelligent charger that ensures your batteries remain fully charged without the risk of overcharging. It has a great Bluetooth app that provides data on your battery and charge. SHOP HERE
