Sealegs Proudly Sponsored the 2025 Moreton Island Fishing Classic and Hosted Champagne Sunset Rendezvous
Sealegs was once again proud to sponsor the 2025 Moreton Island Fishing Classic, a much-loved annual event that brings together the fishing community to raise proceeds for the Moreton Island Rural Fire Service. Our continued support reflects not only our commitment to the island but also our appreciation for long-time Sealegs owner and Moreton Island’s Chief Fire Warden, Scott Bielenberg.
The Classic is not just a highlight on the fishing calendar - it’s a meaningful opportunity for the Sealegs community to come together, connect, and contribute. Moreton Island remains a valued part of the Sealegs story, and this year’s event once again raised crucial funds for the Bulwer Fire Station, reinforcing our commitment to supporting local infrastructure, fostering strong owner relationships, and contributing to the broader island community.
A Memorable Start to the Classic
Early Wednesday morning, the Sealegs crew - Michael, Nat, Rob, along with our Sealegs juniors - departed from Jacobs Well, Gold Coast, navigating across Moreton Bay in our Sealegs 8.5m Alloy Cabin and Sealegs 7.1m Sport RIB. After arriving on the island and giving the boats a clean at the local fire station, the team set up base camp just in time for the midday kick-off of the Fishing Classic, alongside event co-sponsors Sky Reach, City Hire, and ARB.
Notably, both the owners of Sky Reach and City Hire are also proud Sealegs owners, further highlighting the strong connections within the Sealegs community. Their involvement reinforces the shared purpose of supporting each other and the Moreton Island community.
Community, Connection & Adventure
Over four days, Sealegs drew significant attention from both permanent residents and holiday homeowners. Locals were excited to see Sealegs in action, and our youngest fans, the Sealegs Juniors, proudly represented the brand in their own category of the fishing competition.
Conversations went far beyond fishing and boats. Sealegs owners exchanged stories and shared adventures, while friends of the brand mentioned others interested in joining the Sealegs community. These genuine interactions strengthen awareness and engagement with the brand.
The Champagne Sunset Rendezvous
The Fishing Classic wrapped up at lunchtime on Saturday and was immediately followed by one of the weekend’s most anticipated moments: the Sealegs Champagne Sunset Rendezvous. Set on the beach against the breathtaking backdrop of the Bulwer wrecks and rolling sand dunes, the event brought together Sealegs families, supporters, and special guests in a relaxed, celebratory atmosphere.
The stunning setup was complemented by exceptional catering from local favourite Sunset Picnic and Platters, whose delicious offerings added a memorable touch. Many Sealegs owners joined with their boats to celebrate, including multiple Sealegs 9m Hydrasol RIBs, the 8.5m Alloy Cabin, and the 7.1m Sport RIB — all gliding effortlessly from land to sea with wheels lowered and engines humming.
James from Boat Promote captured stunning footage, perfectly showcasing Sealegs in their element.
One of the standout moments was seeing many Sealegs wives and friends impressed by Nat confidently skippering the Sealegs. Their enthusiasm has sparked ideas for a “Ladies on the Water” workshop at next year’s event, designed to empower more women to take the helm and embrace the unique Sealegs experience.
Impact & Opportunities
Beyond strengthening community connections, the event generated enquiries from prospective owners eager to experience the capabilities of Sealegs first-hand. This heightened interest has opened exciting opportunities for demonstrations, test drives, and ongoing conversations, underscoring growing demand for Sealegs in the Australian market.
The event was a resounding success — strengthening owner connections, enhancing brand visibility, and creating valuable opportunities, truly embodying the spirit of Sealegs: innovation, community, and adventure.
